The start of a new financial year marks the start of the planning process for the Training & Workforce Development Team. The team met for a planning day in July and one outcome was the development of a new process being piloted for the development of the 2011 Training Calendar.
This year, the team will be hosting forums in most regions across the state, to assist HACC agencies to identify appropriate training by analysing their staff skill base against their client and service profiles. We will also be assisting agencies to consider the impacts of internal and external changes on thier staff development needs. Regional and metropolitan forums have taken place in August.
Prior to the forums, participants will be invited to complete a document enabling them to profile their organisation. This profile outlines a number of themes, which need to be considered to develop an effective staff development plan:
- Changes in your agency staffing profile
- Changes in your client profile
- Quality Improvement initiatives that link to staff development
- Current identified skill gaps in your staffing
Agencies that bring the completed document to the forums will be able to participate more fully and it will assist in developing their staff development plans.
The Forums will also be an opportunity to provide feedback to CommunityWest on the training provided this year, gaps in provision, and suggestions for how to improve the training provision.
After the forums, agencies will be sent a link to a training needs survey. The survey will close in the third week of September and the Training & Workforce Development Team will then analyse the data before working on the development of the Regional and Metro Calendars. Draft calendars will be circulated to Service Providers and Project Officers for comment before the final calendars are published on the CommunityWest website by mid-December. Agencies will be able to view the calendar and make bookings from then onwards.
