Thanks to all those organisations statewide that took part in CommunityWest’s annual Training Needs Analysis for 2012. One of the areas flagged by this process has been in the area of building skills to support clients with mental health issues. Find out about courses we offer.

All regions reported an increase in clients with mental health issues and requested training to equip their staff with the necessary skills and knowledge to work with them for a better outcome. CommunityWest currently offer three workshops that focus on mental health.

Grief and Loss
This is a one day workshop that is designed for participants to gain an understanding of the losses people experience and the way in which people grieve. Participants leave with a greater understanding of the grieving process and increased empathy for others in this position.

Mental Health First Aid – one day workshop
This is an introductory workshop and provides an insight into the most common mental illnesses that workers are likely to encounter.

Mental Health First Aid – two day workshop
This two day workshop explores more illnesses in more depth and includes the Mental Health First Aid Manual. On completion participants are issued with a Mental Health First Aid certificate.
